This one was really hard for me to draw. I used to just throw strips out as fast as I could, and often it showed. No backgrounds, odd posture, poorly thought out design and visuals. Not every time, but it would happen. These days I have a hard time tackling a strip that I haven’t already worked out a clear visual idea on. I have pages and pages of sketches on this series of strips, but I hadn’t yet thought about how I was going to convey a restaurant dishwasher. It’s basically just a box and a handle, but it has to be obvious at a glance in cartoon form. Hopefully I conveyed it properly and you didn’t just realize what the setting of this strip is. Here’s a sketch from the planning stages:
