Authentic History, General Laziness

First thing’s first: I just went through about the best web site I’ve seen in a long, long time. The Authentic History Center has primary source pop culture material dating back to last century. The site is full of treasure, such as: cartoons from military newspapers during WWII, clips of the horrifically racist war-era Disney and Warner Brothers cartoons, music and fashion of the roaring twenties, Depression-era news broadcasts as well as entertainment broadcasts. There’s so much more on this site, but I just wanted to give a broad sampler of the kind of fascinating stuff available here. They also offer CDs for donations, filled with thousands of political cartoons, pages and pages of documents, or hundreds of hours of radio broadcasts.

I also wanted to address that I haven’t updated this site in a month. Between out of town visitors, a generally hectic work schedule and outdoor summer activities, I really just haven’t had the time. What I have been writing lately, I’ve been writing for myself. So if something particularly fascinating comes along that I feel compelled to tell the whole world about, I’ll be sure to post it here. Otherwise, I’d rather put more time into a project before broadcasting it out on the Internet. I accomplish blogging so much on the fly it drives me crazy. I like to fine-tune my language a bit better than I have the chance to do here.
